About us

Tõstamaa Handicraft Centre was established in the former kindergarten building in 2010 under the leadership of Anu Randmaa, an alumna of Tõstamaa Secondary School.

With the help of a LEADER grant and the Tõstamaa Rural Municipality Government, furnishings were purchased and, over three years, a functioning system of clubs and training was built up. In 2014, in cooperation with the Tõstamaa Manor Foundation (Sihtasutus Tõstamaa Mõis), the Tõstamaa Manor Hobby School was founded on the basis of the children’s handicraft clubs. It was a private school that was merged with the Pärnu School of Arts during the administrative reform. MTÜ Tõstamaa Käsitöökeskus (the non-profit Tõstamaa Handicraft Centre) was established in 2017.

Today, the handicraft centre hosts handicraft and ceramics clubs for both students of the Pärnu School of Arts and adults, as well as folk costume schools and other handicraft and ceramics training. We run workshops for local and foreign groups who visit us. We have two classrooms and one outdoor classroom.

Since 2012, the handicraft centre has operated a handicraft shop that sells products by its own masters as well as by friends near and far. In 2022, an exhibition room was renovated in the shop building, where 5–6 exhibitions are held each year.

Various services, products and training courses can be ordered year-round from Tõstamaa Handicraft Centre and the Clay Room (Savituba).
